Around 9 PM tonight Career and volunteer firefighters from Vinton, Mt. Pleasant, and Reed Mountain repsonded to a structure fire in the 300 Block of 10th Street Vinton. Four people lived in the house but everybody is ok but the house was a total loss.

Crews from Roanoke County and the Forestry Department had a 45-50 acre fire today on Poor Mountain. The fire is 100% contained and was started when leaves got into a pickup trucks engine compartment. No houses were threatened and there are no injuries to report.

Fire broke out around 10:30 tonight in the 1300 Block of Hardy Rd. in Vinton. The career medic unit from Vinton and several volunteer units responded to the fire. The Fire Marshals Office has declared the fire to be arson.

Crews from 3 responded to a propane truck on fire just before lunch. The engine compartment and passenger compartment were fully involved. Since it was a propane fueled truck the fire couldn't be put out til the fuel tank was shut off....
